Become a Member

SBAS membership is open to any individual who occupies a faculty position in a university department of surgery or its affiliated hospitals, a freestanding surgical residency program, an investigator or teacher in an academic department of surgery or an ACGME-approved surgery program, or an individual in a surgical specialty such as Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery). Surgical residents are invited to join as Associate Fellows. We also invite institutions to seek membership in SBAS.

Annual dues for members are $25 for residents and no dues for medical students. Conference registration fees are waived for current members. Associate Members are $25 per year. Any active member upon reaching the age of 70 years shall become a Senior Member and is exempt from paying dues. Institutional membership dues are $1,000 annually.

  1. Current CV and Bibliography, preferably submitted as a file attachment to the application form.
  2. Letter of reference from the Chairman of your department, sent directly to the SBAS Secretary.
  3. Letter of reference from a faculty member in your department familiar with your academic accomplishments sent directly to the SBAS Secretary.
